Justina Semčenkaitė is a fashion designer with a focus on sustainable fashion and activism. She works with conceptual objects and socio-cultural issues in her work, and also teaches sustainable fashion at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
She received her BA (2016) and MA (2018) degrees from the Fashion Design Department of the Academy of Arts and Design, and is currently pursuing her PhD in design. Her work is known for being bright, surreal and ironic, often using the colour pink. Her themes include beauty standards, social and cultural stereotypes, fashion experiments and the discourse of activism in fashion. The most famous projects are the experimental fashion collection *GIRL POWER* and the exhibition Welcome to the Pretty Ugly World. Semčenkaitė is also the Lithuanian representative of FASHION REVOLUTION, an international fashion movement agitating for ethical fashion, fair wages and decent working conditions.
