NUNOKO mycelium lighting

A collection of pendant and floor-standing lamps, designed by product designers Gabija and Jurgis, is crafted from mycelium. A mycelium composite, comprised of mycelium and agro-industrial waste such as wood chips, is utilized. There is much to be said about this material, but its most noteworthy aspect is its 100% environmentally friendly nature. It is entirely eco-friendly, both in production and at the end of its life cycle. If left on the grass, microorganisms will decompose the material in a short period of time, also enriching the soil. The material is alive, making the production process unconventional. It could be better described as a ripening process, hence the name NUNOKO. The design of the luminaires is reminiscent of mushroom aesthetics, featuring rounded shapes akin to a mushroom’s cap. The unique aesthetics of these natural, handmade products used in interior design provide a sense of wholeness and establish a connection between humanity and the natural world.
