HOW THE FUTURE KING OF ENGLAND ATE PEACOCK IN VILNIUS

Client: Lithuanian Culture Institute

The gastronomy book How the Future King of England Ate Peacock in Vilnius: the Shared Cultural, Political and Culinary History of Britain and Lithuania sought to show the connections between two cuisines.

The challenge was to combine the Lithuanian and British cultures, to discover their similarities and connections, but at the same time to show the differences, not merging the two cultures.

A combination of illustrations was used: the letters of the English alphabet that represent the elements of the narrative tell stories of the two nations that unite them. The notes help to bridge the recipes and explain the connections between Lithuania and Great Britain.

To make it easier to follow the recipes, they were presented as cards that could be removed and used separately.
